I'm not super qualified to give you an answer, but I can take a crack at it. Anyway, I'm a mess that probably just needs more practice, but at least IWTL. My technical skill at writing is probably the only thing passable. Whenever I try to plot a story in my head, I think of the first event before giving up and going to write. I end up finding myself 1500 words in a story and bored, not knowing where to go from there.īut mostly, plot eludes me. I understand that most people (apparently) are bursting with ideas for stories, and the problem they run into is actually doing the work, but not so for me. I also am inadequate at coming up with any ideas at all. I am trying to read and write more, and while I can see the tricks and formulas authors use in their work (try-fail cycle, Lester Dent's "third" method,) I always fail at trying to apply them.
